Ages 1=18: The Official NRA Eddie Eagle is the most, "hands off" of childrens firearms safety programs. It runs for about 45 minutes to an hour. It will even work for toddlers if they are able to sing a simple song! Parents also participate in this particular home school gun class in a separate room where we review information such as locking guns up, how to talk to other parents, etc. Parents are an active part of our firearms safety program, they receive goodies and gun locks from Operation Child Safe; there are no additional fees required for parents to participate.

Beginners ages 8+. This is absolutely THE best NRA class for young beginners to take, to establish safe firearms handling BEFORE going to a live-fire range for the first time. NRA Pistol Marksmanship Simulator is a favorite home school gun class in East Tennessee. We use a firearms simulator and laser enabled training guns. It is very safe. We work with the NRA and Operation Child Safe to bring you the best in childrens firearms safety. There is no parent participation in this class, but parents are welcomed to reserve a seat for themselves and take the class along side their child. Students also receive Certificate of Completion and a patch! We have discount pricing available for groups of 6 or more (call for info).
Ages 8+ with prerequisite: Introduction to Firearms Competition is not an NRA class and requires a prerequisite is NRA Pistol Marksmanship Simulator Training. We use the firearms simulator and focus on children's firearms safety while supporting one another, developing discipline, and improving ones own skills rather than trying to beat someone else. Young people will have all the knowledge necessary to do a live fire Steel Challenge competition upon completion, and while we continue to remain aligned with Industry safety standards! There is no parent participation in this class, unless the parent also signs up and reserves a seat to be a full student participant. Although this class is rated at 8 and up, we ask parents to wait a year or two, if very young children do not yet have the attention span to sit and watch for periods of time.

Are you a passionate firearm enthusiast who shoots a couple boxes of ammo at the range on a regular basis and want to take that next step, but not go straight into a high-pressure shooting competition?
Let me help you get started in the NRA Marksmanship Program. You can do this program on your own time, at our own pace, on the “honors system”, and I can provide guidance and support at area events (like SCGC shoots) and on my website.
The program is simple enough for beginners and children! Experienced shooters, don’t let the programs initial simplicity fool you! You will be decomposing your current shooting skills into its smallest individual components. If you ever have felt your shooting skills have plateaued, this is the place to re-evaluate and adjust your shooting for the better!
If you do not see a date/time that works for your OR if you have difficulty using our reservation system, call us for assistance (865) 776-0373.
Hi, my name is Andrea! AK Virtual Arms Training LLC is my firearms academy. I am a female Certified Firearms Instructor who also has a variety of other relevant certifications and experience, including having worked for NASA on the Space Shuttle Program some years back! I was a Scout once and understand how important successful female role models are. I am in a position to uniquely offer young people, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and home school gun classes the challenging growth opportunities that extend far beyond them finishing any of the classes we offer. We have a strong focus on childrens firearms safety and follow the NRA and Operation Child Safe guidelines at our East Tennessee location in Wears Valley. We are already approved for several Girl Scout programs, we are happy to work with the Boy Scouts to establish a program with them also, with a male or a female Instructor.
